Independence Academy Programs

Consultation

We believe that building trusting relationships is a critical first step to engaging adolescents in change work. Oftentimes adolescents are reluctant to acknowledge or consider that they could benefit from becoming more self-aware.

We also know that many teens are reluctant to agree to enroll in a program such as the ones that we offer at our school. Therefore, when a parent/caregiver has a concern about their child, Independence Academy staff will consult with the parent/caregiver and provide three, one-hour sessions with the teen and an additional one-hour follow up session with the parent/caregiver.

At the conclusion of the consultation, the Independence Academy staff will make recommendations for further action steps, if necessary, which may include programming offered at Independence Academy or other community-based resources.
